Poets Out Loud! is a bimonthly community that reads, writes, and celebrates queer poetry in New York City. We spend each session freewriting, reading successful poetry from queer poets, and writing our own work to prompts that I provide. The sessions end with poets sharing the work they’ve just drafted, if they want to. Each session is unique, and everyone wows me with the work they share. We typically meet:

  • First Saturday of Every Month: The Jefferson Market Library (425 Sixth Ave), Third Floor, 2:30-4:30pm

  • Third Saturday of Every Month: Poets House (10 River Terr), Second Floor, 3:30-5:30pm

I launched this community in May 2023, and it continues to be the best decision I’ve ever made. There’s a serious shortage of LGBTQ+ spaces that fosters real community and artistic expression, and I am forever indebted to my community members for showing up, and to the Jefferson Market Library and Poets House for lending us their spaces.

If you or someone you know is a queer poet in or near the 5 boroughs, please join us!
