Write Your Best Poems in Toward Your Poetic Vision
Toward Your Poetic Vision offers a rich grounding in the life and craft of a poet. You’ll learn about the essentials of poetry craft, yes—but also about poetry’s movements and lineages, how language functions in a poem, how to revise your work, and how to craft poetry according to your own poetic vision.
Become a confident, inspired poet whose work captures what you’ve been yearning to express. The course includes 6 video interviews with Writers.com's instructors and hundreds of poetry prompts to write inspired poetry. You will end the course having written your best poems yet and with a profound connection to your own poetic identity.
The course is self-guided and evergreen, so you can access the materials whenever you like—they never expire!—and work through them at your own pace. Learn more and enroll here:

Editing and Coaching
I help writers find their voice
I offer both in-depth feedback and generative writing prompts to writers of all genres and backgrounds. While my emphasis is on poetry, I’ve worked well with writers of literary fiction, speculative fiction, and creative nonfiction, too.
My approach to workshop is informed by both my years as a writing coach and my own teaching philosophy. I always treat the writer as the expert of their writing: my role is to help make that expertise apparent to the reader. You don’t need to know about subordinate clauses or parataxis or the different types of story structures, you just need to have a story—we’ll figure out how to tell it together.
You can get a sense of my expertise from the writing resources I’ve compiled for Writers.com. You can also join free my newsletter, where I offer regular prompts and tips on the craft of poetry.
Why work with me?
My approach to coaching puts you at the center. My #1 commitment is helping you set and reach your goals as a writer. If you don’t know those goals just yet, we’ll figure them out together.
My background as a writer includes:
Running Writers.com, the oldest writing school on the internet.
Founding and managing Poets Out Loud, a generative poetry community.
2 years of coaching slam poetry.
Being the Editor-in-Chief of 2 different literary journals and 1 research initiative.
Writing for all forms of media. In addition to writing poetry, fiction, and the occasional essay, I’ve published and/or presented research, academic writing, fables, and screenplays.
My CV is available upon request.
Rate
My coaching rate is $80/hr. For feedback on longer projects, such as poetry collections or novel manuscripts, we can put together a payment plan based on financial need.
